Abstract

This study aims to improve clean and healthy living behaviors among school-aged children at Pasuluhan Elementary School. In addition, this study also aims to reduce the risk of infectious diseases in school-aged children at Pasuluhan Elementary School. This study uses a community service method containing the socialization of clean and healthy living behaviors (six steps of handwashing), including direct practice using educational posters on the six steps of proper handwashing. The approach in this study uses a descriptive qualitative method, data obtained from the results of in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The implementation of the six-step handwashing activity was carried out on July 19, 2025 at Pasuluhan Elementary School. The six-step handwashing education has proven effective as a clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) intervention in the elementary school environment. The results show that the educational process involving direct demonstrations, joint practice, and positive reinforcement is more easily accepted by school-aged children than just the delivery of theory. In conclusion, the implementation of continuous education, accompanied by the provision of adequate facilities, is expected to form a habit of consistent correct handwashing, thereby reducing the risk of infectious diseases and improving the health of children in the school environment.
